Why do the majority of authors release their books near Christmas time?
As August ends, the books that release increases. In October and November, the amount of books I have to put out each Tuesday increases from 15 to 30.
Now, why does this happen?
Authors don’t have a say in when their books publishers. They can mention a date, but the decision falls on the publisher. The publisher wants to make the most money out of the book, so they’ll release the book around Christmas time. It’s the busiest time of the year at any retail spot, and books fly off the shelves.
Most of the anticipated books and celebrity books will be released in the fall. This provides ample time to get people to bookstores to buy the book before Christmas time.
That’s it. Pretty straightforward, but the publishing team makes a strategic plan on when to release the book. Usually, this date will be in the fall like in October and November.
The most anticipated release date is in two weeks: November 7th. The biggest release date of the year with many authors coming out with a book that day. We have Christopher Pauloni (the author of the Eragon series), Rebecca Yarros (author of the Fourth Wing), Amber Smith (author of The Way I Used To Be), and so much more. It’s going to be great! I can’t wait. 😃
