I’ve read some great books this year and re-read some books I’ve discovered this year or the last couple years. This year has been a year where I’ve been able to read more, and I’m starting to get my reading routine down.

What’s the best book I read this year?

I’ve read 106 books this year so far. If I had to pick my favorite one, it would have to be Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. A book that I didn’t think I would like, but this book brought me back to sci-fi.

Why did I like this book so much?

Advance reader copy of Fourth Wing

I read this book a month before it was released, so many people weren’t raving about it then. At that point, people didn’t even know much about Rebecca Yarros. Fast forward a couple months later, she’s blown up and Fourth Wing has been hard to find (either the limited edition sprayed edge and the re-print without the sprayed edge).

I wanted to provide that context, so you don’t think I read this book because of Tik Tok. Nope. I actually don’t have Tik Tok anymore, but I read this book because I got an advanced copy.

I read the first couple pages and was sucked in. I couldn’t believe the description, the romance built up with Xiodan and Violet, and everything you thought was tipped on its head with that cliff hanger at the end of the book. I mean, ‘Come on.’

The book also has dragons, violent battle scenes, and you know sh*t is going down in the next book, Iron Flame, coming out Nov. 7th, 2023.

So that’s why it’s my favorite. It’s a solid book, and I highly recommend it if you like dragons, romance, and a good sci-fi book.

What’s your favorite book you’ve read this year?
