The Movie Prop Is In My Hands: Yes, It’s Real
To be honest, I watched this trailer 👇, and I thought Marvel was pulling a fast one on me.
I was like, ‘Are they promoting a book in the movie as a real book you can buy anywhere?!’
I looked online and saw that Books-A-Million, Barnes and Noble, Amazon, Walmart, Target, etc. had it on their sites. I was like ‘This can’t be real. Am I crazy?’
Fast forward a couple months later to today (September 5th, 2023) and the book came in where I work. What?!? I instantly bought it because I love Ant Man and this is his biography.
Why is it a movie prop?
They used this book in the beginning of Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Scott Lang or Ant Man is listening to his audiobook in the car and signing the book at a book signing.
I thought it was awesome that they were doing this. It’s the first biography over a Marvel character, and Scott Lang had to be the first one. It was a subtle way of saying “I am Ant man.” Instead of how Iron Man did it when he announced “I am Iron Man” on live TV in front of millions of people.
However, Scott Lang’s book is now in our physical hands, so maybe it was a bigger way to announce he’s a superhero. 🤔 I’ll have to keep pondering that thought.
Whose next?
I’m not sure if Marvel will produce another book like this, but it would be pretty cool. Maybe Iron Man or Spiderman?
My theory on who wrote the book:
My theory is that Paul Rudd (the actor who plays Ant Man) is the ghost writer for this story. Rudd came up with the idea about the book, and the director was like “Okay, let’s put it in the movie.”
Then Paul Rudd wrote the book and distributed it as his character name, Scott Lang, and under Marvel property. So Paul Rudd is the ghostwriter to a character he plays in the movie. That’s my theory. 🤔
I could be wrong, but it feels like Rudd wrote the book. I’m about 85% through the book, and it has Rudd’s comments and comic dialogue he would say.
Either way, it’s a solid book. I highly recommend it if you like Marvel or want more information on Scott Lang. I’ll provide a more in-depth review over this book next week.
Will you get this book? What are your thoughts about the book?
