The classic Christmas Story: Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg
In 1985, Chris Van Allsburg published the Polar Express. A story of where a boy gets picked up from his house to ride a train to the North Pole.
I listened to the audio version provided by the book, and it was narrated by Liam Neeson. Quick listen, but it was such a good book.
This is the first time I read/listened to Polar Express, and it didn’t disappoint. Like Chris’s other books — Jumanji and Zathura, the story is too quick. A novel of the same story would be a great addition. This way it expands on the journey with the games or the books.
This is why I love the movies. They expand on details on what’s happening with their journey. With the Polar Express, the animation hasn’t aged well. They were supposed to make the animation seem real, but it fell through. Now, the animation looks creepy. What if they remake the movie? Make one that’s live action instead of animated.
If you haven’t read this book, I would read it. It’s a quick read over the spirit of the Holiday season. I’m grabbing a cup of hot chocolate and rewatching the movie this weekend.
