Magic Tree House Graphic Novels Review
What are these books about?
Jack and Annie are younger kids who find a tree house next to their house. The tree house belongs to a person called M, but they don’t acually meet M until the fourth book, Pirates Past Noon. The tree house is a time traveling capsule that allows Jack and Annie to travel to different time frames like the Dinosaur Age, Knights, Old Egypt, Titanic, and pirates.
Who is Mary Osborn?
- She is the author of the Magic Tree House series. A series that has sold over 134 million copies.
- She started writing these series in 1992, and recently she has adapted them into graphic novels.
- Her husband, Will, and her sister, Natalie Boyce, are the ones who write nonfiction books related to the Magic Tree House books. These are called fact trackers.
- Mary graduated from University of North Carolina with a religion degree. She didn’t know what she wanted to do with her life yet, so she traveled from country to country. When she got blood poisoning in Kathmandu, she went back to the U.S. She worked as a bartender and tried to make ends meet. One day, she decided to write her first book: Run, Run as Fast as You Can. A book about a eleven year old girl in the south. Then she wrote the Magic Tree House books, which has been her most popular books she wrote.
My book review:
On goodreads, I did review it as a 5/5 on all five of the graphic novels. They’re:
- Dinosaur Before Dark
- The Knight At Dawn
- Mummies In The Morning
- Pirates Past Noon
- Knight of the Ninja’s
- The next one is Afternoon on the Amazon, which doesn’t come out until March 26th, 2024
These graphic novels are great. It’s a way for me to re-read the books that brought me into reading in the first place.
I highly recommend reading these graphic novels. They're fun to read, and they brought me back when I was six years old.
What did I like?
1. Time travel
You're brought into a new adventure every book. It's pretty cool where these kids end up. If only their parents knew what they were doing each day.
2. Nostalgia
This is where these graphic novels bring me back to when I was six years old. These books started my reading journey. It only makes sense to re-read them in their new adapted form.
I’m not sure if I read all of them when I was younger, but I read a good amount of them. These books made me fall in love with traveling, adventure, and looking into other books I was interested in.
What did I not like?
1. Too quick
These books were rather quick. I wish the adventure’s were laid out in more detail, but these books were following the novels, which are fast pace. Other than that, I enjoy this series, and I would highly recommend reading them.
I wouldn’t mind a new series of Jack and Annie when they’re older. That would be awesome. Anyways, this is a great series. I highly recommend it.
