Amulet 9: Waverider Book Review
I’ve reviewed the entire series instead of each book, but I’ve decided to review this separately because it just came out and it’s the last book in the series.
Who is the author?
- Kazu Kibuishi was born in Tokyo, Japan, and moved to California in 1982. This is what happened to my dad. My dad was born in South Korea and moved to California when he was 10.
- Kazu is an illustrator and author
- Known for the Amulet series
- Lives in Texas
What’s this book about?
After five years in the making, Waverider came out in February of 2024. It’s the last book in the series about a young kid, named Emily, who is trying to save Earth.
In the first book, Storekeepers, Emily finds the stone, and this enables her to get powers. Once she has the stone, she gets sucked into the world, Alledia, the stone came from. This is where she’ll be located throughout the series.
My review:
This was a great finish to the series. Kazu started writing this series over 16 years ago, and the book had a great ending to a series that kids and now adults have read.
Here is my review from Storygraph:
What did I like about the book?
1. The art
Kazu is the artist, and he has done a great job with the art. It took him five years to write and illustrate this book, and it’s shown while reading this book.
2. The story
The series is nine books long, but it could have been longer. Kazu put it at the right length, and I’m glad Earth wasn’t destroyed.
What did I not like?
- Nothing. Solid book.
That’s it for this review. I hope you liked it. If you want more book reviews and reading tips, follow Johnnysbookreviews for more! I’ll see you tomorrow with another post!
