I’m finally reading it. One of the most popular books and series where I work. This book sold 900,000 copies last year, according to Public Weekly. There are mixed reviews of the first book because it’s slow. It’s building up the world and the series. So I’ve heard that I have to wait until book two, A Court Of Mist and Fury, where it gets better.

Ever since my brother’s fiance gave me the book a year ago, it’s been on my tbr (to be read) list. I’ve procrastinated on it because I was left disappointed with the Throne of Glass series.

Throne of Glass series goes over an assassin who turns out to be the lost queen while Court of Thorns and Roses have two worlds where mortals and faes and other beasts live separately. However, these worlds will eventually have a war.

Both involve faes, witches, and war. But we’ll see what happens in the A Court of Thorns and Roses.

The perfect opportunity came up when I came across fantasyfangirls podcast. They were doing an episode on February 26th of the first book from chapters 1–5. I was like ‘I love it. I have to do this.’ Each episode is spread out nicely, comes out on Mondays, and provides a ton of detail on the books and the chapters.

However, it was Sunday when I learned about the podcast, so that meant I’ll have to read the first five chapters throughout the week. But Monday morning came, and I couldn’t go back to sleep at 3:30 a.m. I decided to buy the Kindle book and see what happens.

I was instantly hooked. It was different from the Throne of Glass series, and geared more toward adults than young adults. I realized I should have started reading this series first, then got into the Throne of Glass series.

I read the first five chapters, and then I listened to the podcast episode. It was a hour long, but it provided a ton of information to help me understand what was going on.

With any series, I learned the best option is to get the spoilers and any information you can get. This way it’s a lot easier to know what’s going on. You can start looking for more clues, focus on the characters more, etc.

So the fantasyfangirls next episode is next Monday and it’s going to be over chapters 6–12. If you haven’t read this series, what are you waiting for? I waited too long, and I’m excited about where this series will lead me. I’m already loving it, so we’ll see how much I love it by the end of the series.

My review over this book will be coming out soon. First, I have to finish the massive thing.
